Some reporters cover city hall and politicians, others baseball games and sports stars, and still others movies and actors. My beat is bigger -- in fact, universal, ranging from the lowliest parishioner here in Wisconsin to the Holy Father in Rome. I am proud to say I cover the Catholic Church.

- Officially employed by the Catholic Times, newspaper of the Diocese of La Crosse (Wis.), I also write on a monthly basis for the Stevens Point Journal, and on occasion for the La Crosse Tribune and other publications. In 2004 I earned my BA in philosophy, classical languages, English and Catholic Studies from University of St. Thomas (Minn.), and then studied modern languages and theology for two years at the Angelicum University in Rome. I am currently a grad English Student at Winona State University (Minn.). I get excited about books, languages, and even running. But I love my home, which is the Catholic Church.

I think that his commentary is just plain mean and certainly not something fit for a priest to be doing, let alone publicizing for the amusement of others. You follow this, Franz?
I have to agree with jonathan though probably for vastly different reasons. Sr. Chittister laid out the battleground quite plainly. She understands it. She knows why she attends the Novus Ordo. I don't think mocking a clear exposition of the two paths is quite the right response. It brings into question who is really getting mocked. Is it Sister who understands what it's about, or is it those who think that if they sprinkle on a little Latin and add a sprig of Chant and a pinch of incense that the Novus Ordo will taste better?
Point taken, Jon. I will refrain from posting links to denigrating comments in the future. It's easy to get caught up and forget one's Christian attitude in the cyberworld. My apologies.
